PSA for T-Mobile Customers: Activating Scam Shield May Break Your Data
Just a heads-up for anyone on T-Mobile, especially iPhone 13 users:
After activating Scam Shield, my phone’s entire cellular data connection went haywire. Here’s what happened:
- No data at all, even after multiple restarts.
- When data did come back, it would stay on for 10 seconds, then drop again.
- Calls/texts were inconsistent, and the phone basically behaved like it had no SIM.
If you suddenly lose data after enabling Scam Shield, this may be why. From my experience, the issue didn’t fix itself with restarts—something in T-Mobile’s network provisioning gets messed up.
If this happens to you:
- Disable Scam Shield if possible.
- Toggle Airplane Mode off/on.
- If still broken, call T-Mobile support and ask them to “reset the network provisioning / re-register your line.”
- Worst case, they have to remove and re-add Scam Shield from your account on their end.
Just wanted to save someone else the headache. This was all on an iPhone 13, but others have reported similar issues.
